Pune: The Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Defence, chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, visited the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) in Pune today. ARDE is a premier laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Armament & Combat Engineering Systems cluster.

During the visit, the committee members inspected several state-of-the-art indigenous weapon systems and technologies developed by various DRDO laboratories under the cluster.

The major systems demonstrated included:

  • Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS)
  • PINAKA Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher System
  • Light Tank ‘Zorawar’
  • Wheeled Armoured Platform
  • AKASH-New Generation (AKASH-NG) Missile System

The visit highlighted India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing and innovation, showcasing the country’s capability to design, develop, and produce advanced weapon systems indigenously under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
