SASCI Scheme projects reviewed, two new development schemes launched in Nagaland

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, and Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang reviewed ongoing projects under the Central Government’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme in Chumoukedima, Nagaland.

Two new projects were also launched during the review meeting:

  • Construction of a pre-fab multipurpose hall in Phek district
  • Construction of a guest house for administrative officers in Zunheboto town

Between 2020-25, Nagaland received a total of ₹3,577 crore for 340 projects in 17 districts under the SASCI scheme. The scope of the scheme has expanded from three sectors in 2020-21 to nine sectors in 2024-25, diversifying the state’s capital expenditure.

Nagaland’s capital expenditure, with central government support, has tripled from ₹1,677 crore in 2020-21 to ₹4,593 crore in 2024-25.

  • Construction/upgradation of 1,733 km of roads and bridges in 17 districts has improved connectivity to over 100 villages, benefiting approximately 5.25 lakh people.
  • 15 MW solar power plants in Hovukhu, Jhadima, and Ganeshnagar and a 1 MW hydroelectric project in Ponglepho have strengthened power supply.
  • More than 20,000 smart meters are being installed to increase energy efficiency; upgrades to the 132/220 kV transmission network are underway.
  • 29 sports infrastructure projects are being developed to promote sporting talent, including a multi-disciplinary stadium and a futsal field.
  • Construction of 222 km of agriculture-link roads to support the rural economy.

Inauguration of AI Excellence Skills Center at NTTC, Dimapur

The AI ​​Excellence Skills Centre was inaugurated at the Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre (NTTC) in Dimapur in the presence of Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton. During the event, the centre’s modern technical facilities, including the automobile workshop, training block, and agriculture-based rural technology units, were inspected.

Following the inauguration, an interaction was held with the institute’s students, faculty, and officials, who discussed in detail the issues of skill development, industry needs, and emerging technologies.

This initiative is considered a significant step towards promoting technical skills, AI-based training, and employment opportunities in the state.
