Guwahati, February 12, 2026: NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the Government of Assam and with technical support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will organise a regional workshop on “Enhancing SDG Outcomes at the District Level in the North Eastern Region” on February 12, 2026, in Guwahati, Assam. The workshop is being conducted under the NITI Aayog State Support Mission.
The initiative aims to translate key findings from the North Eastern Region District SDG Index into practical and actionable strategies at the district level. The focus will be on strengthening planning mechanisms, prioritisation of development goals, and ensuring effective convergence among various schemes and stakeholders.
Senior officials and representatives from State and district administrations across all eight North Eastern States are expected to participate in the workshop. The event will serve as a collaborative platform to deliberate on best practices, challenges, and innovative approaches to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region.
The workshop will place strong emphasis on SDG localisation, promoting data-driven governance, and enhancing district-level capacity for effective implementation. By aligning district planning with SDG targets, the initiative seeks to accelerate progress toward inclusive growth and balanced regional development in the North Eastern Region.
Through this engagement, NITI Aayog reaffirms India’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring that development outcomes reach the last mile.
