New Delhi, November 11, 2025 – Dr. Arvind Virmani, Member of the NITI Aayog, shared his views on the topic of “Empowering India’s Workforce” at the CII conference held at the Ashok Hotel in the capital on Tuesday. He said, “Jobs and skills are two sides of the same coin – skills for India today mean skills for the world.”
Dr. Virmani made it clear in his lecture that if India equips its youth with modern technology and practical training, India can become an upper-middle-income nation by 2035 and a high-income nation by 2050.
He said that artificial intelligence (AI) should not be considered a competitor to human intelligence, but a complementary tool – one that can enhance productivity, improve the quality of education, improve healthcare, and improve governance.
Emphasizing the vision of a developed India, Dr. Virmani said that the time has come for the country to shift its approach from “degree-based qualifications to demonstrable competencies.” He added that India’s greatest strength is its young, educated, and energetic workforce, which has the potential to lead the world in the coming decades.
Dr. Virmani also emphasized the need for a more collaborative model between industry, academia, and government to transform the country’s demographic dividend into true economic strength.
