PM Modi, King Abdullah II Address India-Jordan Business Forum; Push for Stronger Economic Partnership

Amman, Jordan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and His Majesty King Abdullah II jointly addressed the India-Jordan Business Forum in Amman today, marking a significant step towards strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations. The event was also graced by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, and Jordan’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing business-to-business ties and urged industry leaders from both sides to convert ongoing opportunities into real economic growth. King Abdullah II highlighted that Jordan’s Free Trade Agreements coupled with India’s economic strength could establish a strategic economic corridor linking South Asia and West Asia.

Prime Minister Modi underscored the deep civilizational and historic connection shared by India and Jordan, calling the relationship vibrant and forward-looking. He commended Jordan’s leadership for turning the nation into a regional bridge for trade and connectivity.

PM Modi proposed doubling bilateral trade to USD 5 billion within five years, outlining India’s position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy—soon to be the third largest globally. He invited Jordanian companies to invest in India, offering access to a 1.4 billion consumer market, strong manufacturing base, and stable policy climate.

Both sides identified promising areas for collaboration, including:

Modi suggested that India’s pharma sector and Jordan’s geographical location could together make Jordan a hub for West Asia and Africa.

The forum witnessed participation from leading business groups across sectors like infrastructure, renewable energy, fertilizers, textiles, defense, agriculture, and manufacturing. Representatives from FICCI and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce also attended, reaffirming their existing MoU to enhance trade and economic engagement.

The meeting signals a new phase of cooperation aimed at building trusted supply chains, promoting innovation, and unlocking investment opportunities for mutual prosperity.
