New Delhi/Nagaon: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Ji, who united different communities through the path of Bhakti, is not just a spiritual icon of Assam but of the entire nation.
Speaking about the inauguration of the Batadrava Than Redevelopment Project at Sankardev Ji’s sacred birthplace in Nagaon, Assam, Amit Shah said the project reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of preserving and strengthening Assam’s cultural and spiritual heritage. He described the redeveloped Batadrava Than as an architectural marvel and a symbol of India’s civilisational values.

The Home Minister further said it was heartening that the Assam government removed encroachments that threatened Assam’s cultural identity to make way for this historic project. According to him, the redevelopment stands as a true tribute to Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Ji, carrying forward his timeless message of social harmony, devotion and unity.
Amit Shah emphasised that such initiatives not only preserve cultural heritage but also inspire future generations to stay connected with India’s spiritual roots.
